Lots of New Books

Lots of new books have arrived. ‘Material Obsession’ features the bright and cheerful quilts from Sydney, Australia’s shop of same name.

‘Weekend Quilts’ by Judy Laquidara is a book that we all could use! Each of the 16 quilt projects have had their instructions divided into one-hour segments making it easy to make progress even though your time may be limited.

‘Quilted Symphony’ by Gloria Loughman, the best- selling author of ‘Luminous Landscapes’, promises to ‘liberate your creative side with abstract art’.

The newest collection from French General has arrived! ‘Rural Jardin’ offers more gorgeous French reproduction prints for your quilting projects.

So Warm and Cuddly!

Joan has just completed this rag quilt using 2 ½” strips from the ‘Authentic’ collection by Sweetwater for Moda. So warm and cuddly!

Despite the snow falling outside, we’re feeling cheerful as bright new fabric collections for little people arrive. ‘Love U’ by Deb Strain for Moda features cute little owls and butterflies, while ‘Animal ABC’ makes up into a cloth book to curl up with and read together!

We’re “Snap Happy”!

Leslie has stitched these terrific bags that snap open and shut to keep small valuables safe and secure! These ‘Snap Happy!’ bags from Stitchin’ Sisters come in 3 sizes and use a metal carpenter’s measuring tape for the closure. Really clever!

Brand new fabric for spring has arrived! Blue and yellow quilts are big again and the ‘Nature’s Notebook’ collection by April Cornell for Moda will work perfectly for any project that you are planning.

The other colour trend for spring is soft grayed pastels. These pretty prints from Alexander Henry are just gorgeous!

Have you noticed just how trendy owls seem to have become? If you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet, start your collection with this charming ‘Spotted Owls’ print from Alexander Henry!

Moda Scrap Bags are Here!

Finally, after a really long wait, the Moda Scrap Bags are now in stock! Each bag contains 8 - 10 ounces of scraps from one collection. There are 24-32 assorted strips and each strip is 36″ long by assorted widths. These won’t last long!

Brand new basics from STOF of Denmark arrived on the same truck as the Scrap Bags. These blenders and tone on tone prints are a lovely quality and the colours are gorgeous!

Here’s a fun new baby quilt pattern from Amy Bradley Designs. ‘The Hoots!’ are cute little owls to appliqué by machine or hand for your favouite little one! The pattern for a 12″x16″ pillow is included.

New from Heather Bailey is Henrietta Turtle. She can be used as either a toy or as a pin cushion (but not at the same time!).

These fabric buckets will add a fresh look for spring to your home décor. The pattern, ‘Make Life Fun’ from Sweetwater, is easy to sew and includes 3 iron-on labels!

What a relief! Finally, all of the holiday decorations are put away and we can get back to our quilting! It’s been good to see everyone popping in to pick up their block of the month kits, signing up for classes and beginning new projects!

Here’s a photo of our new friend Eloise! Suzi created her using the Eloise and Elmore pattern from Indygo Junction.

This new collection of taupe fabrics from Moda called Evening Mist by Sentimental Studios arrived during the last few days of December. The log cabin blocks were made with the Marti Michell Log Cabin ABC’s book and the Log Cabin Ruler.

There are just a few spaces remaining for the Cobblestone Lane Block of the Month program. Let us know as soon as possible if you are interested!
