Sweet Harmony Bag

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Suzi has finished the Sweet Harmony Bag from Amy Butler using fabrics from her ‘Love’ collection. The purse has some great interior pockets as well as the outer ones. There is also a small exterior pocket for quick access to a cell phone!

Be the first in your quilting group to try these Wash-Away Appliqué sheets. You can use your ink jet printer to print appliqué templates or foundation piecing patterns. They are single sided fusible, water soluble and give a crisp clean edge for stitching. No more cutting out the back of your work to remove freezer paper!

We’re just putting the finishing touches on the spring newsletter. You can register for classes as soon as it is posted. Watch for it online next week!

What would a week be without new fabric? This bold print shown with coordinates is called ‘Poppies’ by Pamela Mostek from Clothworks. It would make a knockout One Block Wonder!

The Perfect Guide

Here are more new books and a great new pattern!  ‘Jelly Roll Quilts’ by Pam and Nicky Lintott is described as “the perfect guide to making the most of the latest strip rolls”. We really like this book!  There’s a great variety of quilt projects included, the photos are gorgeous, the instructions are detailed and metric equivalents are given for the yardage!

‘The Graceful Garden- A Jacobean Fantasy Quilt’ by Denise Sheehan features 12 pieced and appliquéd blocks in a Jacobean style.  She uses touches of embroidery to enhance the beautiful appliqué.  Instructions for a pieced quilt and a table runner are included as well!

‘The Encore Purse Insert’ pattern contains instructions to make a purse organizer that will fit inside a larger unstructured handbag.  No more rummaging around for items that have sunk to the bottom!  The insert is easily switched to another bag when desired.
